Richard Tyson

Richard is an Account Lead at Doblin. He has a special interest in how innovation strategy and planning can help transform large organizations and systems (public or private). He believes that the opportunities inherent in innovation are best understood through careful study of the social behaviors to which they are bound.

Richard came to innovation planning through a lifetime of pursuits that marry the practical and the conceptual. After studying philosophy and designing for theatre and film, he got his start in business by producing for the earliest Internet companies in New York. This led to a career in strategy and consulting for advertising agencies and professional service firms, where he led consulting and
technology projects for Fortune 500 companies.

Richard studied at Harvard College, Whitman College, and The New School for Social Research. He hails from Walla Walla, Washington, one of
the most interesting places on earth.

  • Richard loves to hike; explore international cities; see contemporary
art; read philosophy, and cook. He has an unhealthy obsession with the strategy board game Go.
  • If he weren't an innovation consultant he would be an urban planner or architect.
